Soapstone Countertops

A soft, warm, matte natural stone rich in talc. Deep charcoal tones, non porous, heat proof, and chemically inert. It ages into a beautiful patina.

The upside

  • Minor scratches sand out, so the surface is repairable

  • Softer surface, so it scratches and dents more easily, though it is sandable
  • Limited color range of charcoal, grey, and green grey
  • Darkens over time, especially when oiled

Caring for soapstone

How to keep it looking new

Wipe with soap and water. Apply mineral oil periodically to even out the patina, which is optional. Sand out minor scratches with fine sandpaper.
